PR4Electron Energy Corporation Enhances Magnetic Design and Prototyping Service

LANDISVILLE, PA (Jan. 23, 2003) — As part of its ongoing commitment to develop innovative products and services that meet the special needs of its customers, Electron Energy Corporation, a long-standing innovator in the field of rare-earth magnets, has begun using high-performance two- and three-dimensional electromagnetic design computer software. The company’s objective is to strengthen its magnetic design capability, as well as to assist customers in developing and optimizing magnet systems.

“The number of applications for permanent magnets in a variety of industry segments and scientific disciplines is increasing rapidly,” said Electron Energy Corporation President Michael H. Walmer. “New information on magnetic properties, mechanical properties and design options continue to emerge as these applications take hold. At Electron Energy Corporation, we can assist in the initial design stage and help to move new products to market quickly.”

“This assistance can range from conceptualization to production,” added Jin Fang Liu, Senior Engineer in EEC’s bonded magnets division. “Electron Energy offers an extensive range of services that include design optimization, rapid prototyping, magnet testing and selection recommendations, manufacturability assessment, pre-production trials, and production of magnets and magnet assemblies. Our accomplishments include complete system design, sometimes starting with very basic information, such as minimum-torque or holding-force requirements. Customers benefit from our extensive knowledge of magnet materials and processes coupled with our sophisticated in-house magnetic design capabilities.”

Electron Energy Corporation works with design engineers to develop magnet solutions for aerospace and defense, telecommunications, medical devices, process controls and sensors and many industrial applications. EEC offers rare-earth magnets with the broadest range of properties and performance capabilities available -- (BH)max from 3 to 48 MGOe, and service temperatures up to 550°C -- and can handle any complicated geometries and magnetization patterns.

As a fully integrated US supplier, founded in 1970, Electron Energy Corporation (EEC) develops, produces and markets custom Samarium Cobalt (SmCo) and Neodymium-Iron-Boron (NdFeB) sintered permanent magnets, assemblies and systems. EEC is dedicated to improving rare earth permanent magnet performance to meet the most technically demanding applications in aerospace, military, medical, electronics, instrumentation and motion control markets. Our depth of understanding of customers' needs, technical prowess, and ability to precisely control material compositions, allow us to partner with our customers as a virtual "in-house" source of magnet technology.
