Press Release - EEC awarded Patent For Ultra-High Temperature magnetsElectron Energy Corporation Awarded Patent For High-Temperature Magnets LANDISVILLE, PA (October 18, 2002) — Electron Energy Corporation, a long-standing innovator in the field of rare-earth magnets, has been awarded U.S. Patent No. 6,451,132 B1 on their new series of rare-earth cobalt magnets for high temperature applications. These high temperature magnets, properly coated, are suitable for long-term service at temperatures as high as 550 Since 1995, the U.S. Air Force and other branches within the U.S. Department of Defense have described requirements for magnets capable of operating at temperatures greater than 400°C. In response to those needs, Electron Energy Corporation (EEC) has developed this new class of magnets. EEC’s objective during the development of these magnets was to maintain a substantially linear extrinsic demagnetization curve at higher temperatures while maintaining the maximum possible energy product. Accordingly, a new symbol (TM) was introduced, which is defined as the maximum temperature at which the extrinsic demagnetization curve of a magnet is a straight line. A straight-line extrinsic demagnetization curve is of value to designers of minimum volume and minimum weight devices. The straight-line curve is even more important for dynamic or highly loaded applications where high demagnetization forces are encountered. For more information about Electron Energy Corporation’s high temperature magnets, call toll-free at 1-800-824-2735. Our staff of engineering specialists is available for free technical consultations, or will travel to on-site meetings. As a fully integrated US supplier, founded in 1970, Electron Energy Corporation (EEC) develops, produces and markets custom Samarium Cobalt (SmCo) and Neodymium-Iron-Boron (NdFeB) sintered permanent magnets, assemblies and systems. EEC is dedicated to improving rare earth permanent magnet performance to meet the most technically demanding applications in aerospace, military, medical, electronics, instrumentation and motion control markets. Our depth of understanding of customers' needs, technical prowess, and ability to precisely control material compositions, allow us to partner with our customers as a virtual "in-house" source of magnet technology.
