DFARS Specialty Metals Compliance

In 2006, 10 U.S.C 2533b changed domestic source restrictions provisions for specialty metals for national defense, previously covered by the Berry Amendment. Electron Energy can provide certification of full compliance with DFARS clause 252.225.7014 Alt. 1 (DEVIATION) Preference for Domestic Specialty Metals. This is the specific mechanism in the Defense Federal Acquisitions Regulations Supplement by which “domestic source restrictions” are implemented by the Department of Defense. US law and its revisions known as the Berry Amendment enact domestic source restrictions for specialty metals provisions for national defense.

Violations of this specialty metals clause has resulted in major fines and penalties, government investigations and delayed deliveries to DOD. This impacts all tiers in the supply chain to DOD. We know that DOD and prime contractors are making a concerted effort to ensure that these provisions are flowed down to suppliers at all levels. EEC and its supply chain are fully equipped to support those compliance efforts. We assure you that all EEC orders for magnets and magnet systems with a stated end use by the US Department of Defense are produced in compliance to US law codified in DFARS 252.225-7014 Alt 1 (DEVIATION) (link to form letter of early 2006).

International Traffic of Arms Regulations

EEC and its supply chain is capable of manufacturing magnets and magnet assemblies in accordance with the export control regulations of the US. EEC can handle export restricted data and materials within its operations as well as with its vendors.
