Magnet Assemblies for Traveling Wave Tubes (TWTs)
Traveling wave tubes, klystrons, and magnetrons are all used to amplify signals at microwave frequencies for high-performing radar, communications and electronic countermeasure systems. When samarium cobalt magnets were developed in the late 1960’s, Electron Energy obtained a royalty-free non-exclusive government license to produce these magnet materials. EEC has provided a significant advantage to TWT customers by continuously improving magnetic field strength and thermal properties. EEC is the world leader for design and manufacture of magnetic assemblies for traveling wave tubes (TWTs). We are recognized for our superior magnetic materials, strong applications knowledge and our ability to meet the very demanding requirements of our customers. We offer in-house design capability for engineering stacks to a specific profile and can run full profile testing of a completed stack. Our materials are custom-blended and magnets can be designed with temperature-stable magnetic fields up to 550 degrees C and reversible temperature coefficients to 0.001 % change in Br per degree C.
